Case Analysis And Explanation

Precautions of turbocharging vehicles.

For every car owner, turbocharging is a familiar word. A turbocharging car has its advantages in power and fuel economy. Many car owners regard it as the symbol of speed and passion. The corresponding turbocharging model has slightly higher maintenance costs at the later stage. If the car owner has bad driving habits and lacks proper maintenance knowledge, turbocharging will greatly affect the performance and service life of the vehicle.

1. Select the high-quality engine oil
At present, the high engine oil consumption is mostly caused by the oil seal damage between the turbocharger and air intake pipe. The damage of the oil seal is mainly caused by the too long engine oil change period or used inferior engine oil. As a result, the floating turbine main spindle is lack of lubrication and cooling to damage oil seal and cause oil leakage accordingly.
Therefore, the turbocharger relatively has stricter oil requirement than the ordinary naturally aspirated engine. The high engine oil consumption is mostly caused by the damage of oil seal between it and the intake pipe. Because the main spindle of the turbocharger is in floating design, the whole main spindle is cooled and lubricated by the lubricating oil. If the inferior engine oil is used, the floating main spindle of turbine cannot be normally lubricated and cooled due to its high consistence and poor mobility. If the good-quality oil is selected, the resistance to oxidation, wear resistance, resistance to elevated temperature, lubrication and cooling performance will be also better. It is recommended to use WERATCHE lubricating oil. Its unique Liquite Molybdenum technology is developed through wide research, laboratory and on-site tests. The additive maintained with the Liquite Molybdenum is far superior to other traditional additive. Intensified by the Liquite Molybdenum, it has stronger oil film which provides additional protection and offers the optimum protection performance for the machinery equipment of engine!

2. Timely change the engine oil filter and air filter
For the vehicles with turbines, special attention shall be paid to the timely replacement of the oil filter and air filter, and the cleanliness of turbine shall be maintained. In general, the clearance between the turbocharger spindle and bushing is very small. If the engine oil used is not pure or the engine oil filter is not clean, the turbocharger will be excessively worn.
Secondly, since the air contains a large amount of impurities, the fast operation will make the dust particles impact the turbocharger, and the turbine will not run stably to cause wear. You can check the turbocharger regularly for damage. The method is to hear if there is any abnormal noise or unusual vibration, and check whether the seal ring is sealed.

3. The vehicle shall travel slowly at cold start and shut down after idling at hot state
The lubrication effect is poor during cold vehicle start due to the relative low engine oil temperature and high viscosity, so the good lubrication effect will be achieved after the temperature gets normal. If the turbine is forced to operate under full load in this process, it will be worn. Therefore, it is recommended to idle for 3-5 minutes prior to the cold vehicle start, or run at a low speed for a period before startup for warm-up.
It’s best to shut down after idle in situ for a period during shutdown, because the reached temperature is very high after the turbocharger works. After shutdown, the turbine will continue to run for a period due to the inertia, i.e., the lubricating oil is still required to function at this point. If you shut down the engine soon after shutdown, the cooling system and lubricating oil supply will also stop, which may damage the bearing of vehicle. Therefore, run the engine for 2-3 minutes before shutdown to cool the turbine in the sufficient time. (the vehicle model with automatic circulating cooling device is negligible)
